“Teach a Friend” is an annual event sponsored by the American Homebrewers Association (AHA). The AHA website states, “Each year on the first Saturday in November, homebrewers around the world are encouraged to invite non-brewing and brewing friends and family to celebrate Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day and brew a batch of beer together.” The SNOB’swill host a local event in the Biergarten at Cleveland’s Sachsenheim Hallfrom Noon-4pm. The event is free, open to the public and will feature beginner and advanced homebrewing demonstrations. Local commercial brewers are also expected to be on hand. There will be an opportunity to touch, smell and even taste a variety of brewing ingredients, including malted barley, hops and yeast. Club members will use their personal small-scale brewing equipment to conduct the live brewing demonstrations. SNOB’s will provide food and, of course, beer will be available as well. The event is rain or shine. “Teach a Friend is not just for those who are curious about the homebrewing hobby, it’s for beer enthusiasts as well. You can learn so much about why a beer has an amber color or has a certain aroma by seeing the brewing process up close”, says SNOBs member, Brian Wright.
